Standards for Indigenous Community Consultation
[Note that the call for experts is over]
The Higher Ground Foundation (HGF) is completing external expert validation of its Vulnerably Reduction Credit (VRC™) Standard Framework that serves as a means of evaluating and crediting climate change adaptation projects. As a part of this process, it is clear that indigenous peoples are particularly vulnerable to climate change, and that standards and guidance for engagement with indigenous peoples in VRC project design and registration is critical.
To ensure that the rights of indigenous populations are respected and reflected in the Framework and subsequent project development efforts, we have recruited a higher qualified team of professionals to voluntarily review, comment, and provide additional inputs to a set of Standards for Indigenous Community Consultation. The reviewers have expertise in indigenous community adaptation along with regional expertise in development and or climate adaptation with indigenous peoples in Africa, South Asia, East Asia, Latin America, and international and regional indigenous rights and climate policy.
If you are interested in contributing to this voluntary effort, please indicate your area of expertise and contact Blake Gentry, Standards Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
